Self-Adhesives in Philately
Kevin Martin (Director of Expertizing) at the American Philatelic society walks through the origin and evolution of self-adhesive stamps. While the first US self-adhesive stamps where issued in 1974 they were used elsewhere far earlier. While this is a touchy subject for some collector’s its evolution and the consumer demand for greater convenience for the public has led it to become the standard for the majority of US stamps by 2002.
