Welcome to the Allentown Philatelic Society Website!
The club’s October 30th EPASS has been cancelled due to the resurgent COVID-19 pandemic.
If you came to our website to learn more about us, please feel free to examine all of the website’s pages. To assist you in navigating our website, words or phrases in red can be clicked on and you will be taken to the selected web page.
If you are interested in becoming a new member of our great club, please fill out the form and follow the instructions on the Contact Us page.
If you have a question or wish to contact us, please use the CONTACT FORM, which is also on the Contact Us page.
Note: we do not send stamps to anyone. We do have a special table at our stamp show, EPASS, where young and new collectors can select stamps for free. So, if you are new to stamp collecting, please try to attend our next EPASS and we’re sure that you will find some nice stamps for your collection!
Our September club meeting will be held at our president’s, Bill Harris’s, home on Sunday, September 12, and will start at 2.30 pm. The club will hold a club-member’s only bourse where club members will be able to sell their own material to other members at whatever price is mutually agreed upon. As usual for club bourses, there are no fees paid to the club. The meeting will be held in Bill’s garage where tables and chairs will be provided. You are welcome to come about 30 minutes early and assist with the setting up of the tables and chairs. If you do not have Bill’s home address, you can reach him via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
The Allentown Philatelic Society (aka. Allentown Stamp Club) is a chapter member of the American Philatelic Society.
Club meetings are always open to the general public, whether they are in-person or virtual.
During the pandemic, we usually are conducting our monthly meetings via ZOOM, if you would like to attend our “virtual” meeting, please send an email to Bill Harris, the club president, at least one day before the scheduled meeting and Bill will send you the information on how to connect into our ZOOM meeting. Bill’s email address is: email@example.com
Our club’s virtual meetings are normally held on the same day and time as our in-person meetings, on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. We meet on the second Tuesday when the first Tuesday is a holiday, election day or another event that would compete for the time of our members. Please refer to this website to ensure you have the correct Tuesday for our meetings.
We hope to resume in-person meetings at our normal venue by the end of 2021. These meetings are normally held in the Reception Room on the 2nd floor of St. Luke’s Hospital – Sacred Heart campus in the conference center, 421 Chew Street, Allentown, PA 18102. Free parking is available in the multi-story parking lot adjacent to the conference center that is accessible from 5th Street. If you park on level 2A Orange, there are doors into the building on this level. Upon entering the building, turn left and proceed down the corridor. At the first intersection, the Reception Room is the first room to the right.
The formal part of the meeting starts at 7 p.m., but many members arrive by 6:30 p.m. to buy, sell and/or trade.
The meetings are a great place to network with other enthusiastic philatelists.
You will have the opportunity to discuss, swap, buy and sell stamps with other members.
Auctions are conducted on odd-numbered months and the club also holds a bourse for its members every few months.
An annual dinner event is conducted by the club at a local restaurant; members’ costs are subsidized by the club.
Members can sign out library books for a month at a time but can extend their time period if no other member requests those books. Some items include the Scott Volume 1 through 6, Scott US Specialized and Scott Classic catalogs.
