The Allentown Philatelic Society (aka. Allentown Stamp Club) is a chapter member of the American Philatelic Society.
Club meetings are always open to the general public, whether they are in-person or virtual.
During the pandemic, we are conducting our monthly meetings via ZOOM, if you would like to attend our “virtual” meeting, please send an email to Bill Harris, the club president, at least one day before the scheduled meeting and Bill will send you the information on how to connect into our ZOOM meeting. Our club’s virtual meetings are always held on the same day and time as our in-person meetings, on the first Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. We meet on the second Tuesday when the first Tuesday is a holiday, election day or another event that would compete for the time of our members. Please refer to this website to ensure you have the correct Tuesday for our meetings.
We expect to resume in-person meetings in the Fall of 2021. These meetings are held in the Reception Room on the 2nd floor of St. Luke’s Hospital – Sacred Heart campus in the conference center, 421 Chew Street, Allentown, PA 18102. Free parking is available in the multi-story parking lot adjacent to the conference center that is accessible from 5th Street. If you park on level 2A Orange, there are doors into the building on this level. Upon entering the building, turn left and proceed down the corridor. At the first intersection, the Reception Room is the first room to the right.
The formal part of the meeting starts at 7 p.m., but many members arrive by 6:30 p.m. to buy, sell and/or trade.
The meetings are a great place to network with other enthusiastic philatelists.
You will have the opportunity to discuss, swap, buy and sell stamps with other members.
Auctions are conducted on odd-numbered months and audio-visual presentations are presented on even months. The A/V topics are selected by the members.
An annual dinner event is conducted by the club at a local restaurant; members’ costs are subsidized by the club.
Members can sign out library books for a month at a time but can extend their time period if no other member requests those books. Some items include the Scott Volume 1 through 6, Scott US Specialized and Scott Classic catalogs.
